Austin, TX - 7 % ABV, 40 IBUs - Murky ruby brown in color, substantial mouthfeel and flavor, but dry a bit hoppy for the style. Earthy with noticeable peat smoked malt.
Located in the north Austin/Pflugerville area, Rogness Brewing Company specializes in creating small, handcrafted batches of beer. In November of 2011, the brewery wrapped up a successful fundraising campaign on the crowd funding website Kickstarter. Exactly three months later their 30 bbl brewing system showed up. Their first two beers, Ost (Porter) and Bella (Belgian Golden Ale), debuted on draught on March 26, 2012.
As decade long owners of a successful homebrew supply shop in Austin, TX, Forrest and Diane Rogness have experimented with many different hops and exotic ingredients. They are proud to be sharing their unique recipes on draught, limited runs of bottles, and very soon in cans. There is no style that is off limits. There will be several brews available on tap year round and certain offerings will be canned or bottled.
Forrest and Diane have been married for 13 years and have a 7 year old daughter named Anna. Forrest started brewing in 1990 and purchased Austin Homebrew Supply in 1999. He holds a degree in Photography.
Diane is originally from Iceland. She met Forrest at the University of Iowa and holds a degree in Art History. Her love and practice of Yoga was inspiration for Yogi (Chai Spiced Amber).
There are 3 brewers but no "head brewer". They are Dave Ebel, Dave Heath and Dan Wheeler. Recipes are written by Forrest. The rest of the team is Mark Tovar, Tony Bailey, and Daron White. Including Forrest, they have over 65 years of combined brewing experience.
